We enter medieval times in the village of Mura.

Located in the region of Bages at 454 meters above sea level and nestled in the Natural Park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l´Obac, lies Mura, a small village of little more than 200 inhabitants, which today still has all its medieval charm .

Mura is first mentioned in the year 978, in that time work in the fields was the main motor of existence. Especially the cultivation of the grape that had its greatest apogee from the XVIII until entering the XIX century, as the phylloxera ends with the majority of the Vineyards urging many people to leave the village in search of another way to make a living. In the middle of the XX century, the development of charcoal was decisive to give work to the inhabitants of Mura, until the electric energy arrived and caused that the people were adapting to new types of work, like the textile in the years of the 60 , until arriving at the present time where the town is basically a second residence town for weekends and vacations.

In Mura we can find charming places to visit such as: the Romanesque church of Sant Martí (S.XI), the Castle of Mura (S.XI), Ermita de Sant Antoni (also Romanesque style), Mura caves, Gorja del Padre, Fountains of the Age, Rector and Escolà, Puig la Balma and even an aviary where we can find different types of birds and other small animals.
Visiting Mura is to move you into medieval times. Its steep and cobbled streets, its arcades, stairways, narrow alleys and large stone houses, draw a fairytale landscape and make it one of the most beautiful villages in Catalonia.
