The tranquility that breath in the medieval core of Bagà is the ideal counterpoint to the typical hullabaloo of the Christmas holidays. In the Plaza Galceran de Pinós, for example, you will like its arcades, while in the old palace you will be surprised by the murals inside. But if you are looking for the most authentic calm, head to the outskirts of the historic capital of Berguedà. On the night of December 24, the medieval village of just over 2,000 inhabitants celebrates the birth of Christ with the burning of vegetable torches. They are all in the square and as the church bell tolls, the lights are turned off and the torches are lit that, from that moment, do not stop moving. When they can no longer hold the torches with their hands, they are thrown to the ground and small bonfires are formed, around which the little ones jump singing traditional songs. It is not an exclusive custom of Catalonia, although the living cribs are very ingrained here. Some locations, preferably towns with a historical aroma, perform a spectacular display of actors and media. Sophisticated historical recreations with effects of light, sound and dialogues between the different characters. A good location for your most Christmas audiovisual project. Corbera presents one of the oldest and most important living cribs in Catalonia. More than 200 actors depict the characters of the biblical scenes within the framework of the natural landscape of the Peña del Corb. Who says you can not spend Christmas on the beach? In the Tarragona municipality of Vila-seca there is a very special crib. It is the most important fir fair in Catalonia. The origin goes back to the year 1981, since then every year the local farmers sell directly to visitors the Christmas trees grown in the Guilleries. At the moment it offers 270 stands that are organized in four sectors: cribs and figures, trees and vegetation, crafts and all kinds of zambombas (friction drums). The other major market of the city is the Christmas Fair of Sagrada Familia, with fewer stands but in an emblematic location.
