Charming corners in the city of Barcelona

Outside the most touristic circuits, between alleys, there hide infinite corners in Barcelona, very often unknown, even to the people who live in the city.

They are squares, cloisters, passages and walks that belong to other eras and that evoke a Barcelona that, at first sight, does not seem to exist: the one that maintains the essence of the town and shows how the neighbourhoods of the city were one day. In these locations you may find the place you are looking for, for your photographic shooting or audiovisual production.

Ready to know the secrets of Barcelona?

The square of Sant Agustí Vell

It has a Parisian touch, almost melancholic, but it is in the heart of the Sant Pere neighbourhood, where it is almost hidden. It still has a medieval arcade, just where Portal Nou street begins, although most of the buildings date back to the 18th and 19th centuries, when the neighbourhood was in the golden age of Catalan textiles. Now, paved with modern paving stones, it is surrounded by shops and authentic restaurants where you can enjoy an original menu and where you can evoke the past in your audiovisual project.

The Plaza de Sant Gaietà

If it were not for the total lack of barriers to prevent access, anyone would think that the Plaza de Sant Gaietà is a private patio. It is tiny, paved with red tiles and surrounded by flowers, with a beautiful bougainvillea. It makes the people who live in one of the ten cottages that surround it privileged ones. It is also known as « el raconet » (the little corner), a romantic and very hidden space, like few others in Barcelona. Do not want to miss this location for your audiovisual production, right?

The square of Vila de Gràcia

The recently renamed « Plaza de la Vila de Gràcia » has had different names throughout its history, and many neighbours still call it « Plaza de Orient ». Right in the middle stands a clock tower, 33 meters high, crowned by a bell known as « la Marieta », which still rings. Surrounded by bars, restaurants and shops, it is a meeting point for neighbours, always full of life. Ideal to locate your photo shootings or more alternative audiovisual productions.

The square of Prim

In the square of Prim del Poblenou you will find the oldest houses in this neighbourhood of the seafaring past, fishermen used to live here. It is a simple and charming space: with beautiful trees, a fountain and an unique seafood restaurant. The surroundings are also essential, low white houses and quiet streets. A heaven of peace integrated in the middle of the city. A marine environment for your next audiovisual project.

The Masadas square

Built at the end of the 19th century, Masadas Square, in the heart of La Sagrera, is one of the few squares with arcades that remain in the city. For much of the last century, there was a covered market that was dismantled at the beginning of the nineties. An unique location in the city for your photographic shooting or audiovisual production.

The cloister of the old Hospital of Santa Creu

The site of the former Hospital de la Santa Creu is one of the magnificent examples left of the Catalan civil Gothic. The old House of Convalescència de Sant Pau is one of the unique buildings of the site. From here, if you go down the stairs, going to the central cloister of the building, also of Gothic architecture, you will have an impressive vision. A haven of calmness with a very marked style to locate your audiovisual production or photographic shooting.

The courtyard of the Drassanes Reials

The Drassanes Reials de Barcelona, a sixteenth-century Gothic-style construction built as a replica of the original of the fourteenth century, stands on the seafront. Today it houses the Maritime Museum of the city. From the lobby you access the immense central courtyard, which was the great courtyard of Pere el Gran. In the background, there is a facade with a large portal of voussoirs. The visit is a trip to another era, you can take advantage of it for a photographic shooting or an audiovisual production.

The cloister of the Convent of Sant Agustí

Of the old Convent de Sant Agustí, from the 14th century, only the Gothic cloister and a part of the building are preserved. After the siege of 1714, it was demolished to build military barracks. Now, restored, it is a very active civic center, and under the arches of the cloister hides the bar of the Convent, with a magnificent terrace for a drink. You will not a find better location for your audiovisual project.

The gardens of the Torre de les Aigües

They house the well-known and appreciated “beach” of L’Eixample and are the first parts of the district that were recovered for public use, following the original idea of the urban planner Ildefons Cerdà, creator of the neighbourhood. The brick water tower of the late nineteenth century is still in operation to provide water to the pool, open to the public during the summer months. A different location in each season of the year that you can discover in your next audiovisual project.

Palo Alto Foundation

The gardens of the Palo Alto Foundation occupy a former factory complex of the end of the 19th century and are spectacular. Exuberant and leafy, the vegetation is omnipresent. It covers, even, the facades of the enclosure. In addition, there is an orchard and a canteen where you can taste menus. The current tenants, a score of companies dedicated to artistic creation, turned this industrial complex into a real village that you can use in your next audiovisual production or photographic shooting.

The gardens of the palace Palau Robert

In a privileged place of the city, the Passeig de Gràcia, stands the imposing Palau Robert, a building from the beginning of the 20th century. Its gardens are an oasis that can be entered from Avenida Diagonal. With spaces to sit in the shade, the gardens were originally reconstructed at the beginning of this century. It can be accessed from Diagonal Avenue or from the lobby of Palau Robert. A space in the heart of the city to escape the bustle, perfect for a photographic shooting or an audiovisual production with a lot of style.
