Locations with urban art in Barcelona
We want to show you some of the corners of the city of Barcelona where you can make the most cool photographic shooting or audiovisual production for your brand or product.
In Barcelona there are many urban backgrounds, walls, murals, graffiti or simply facades ideal for a shooting or an audiovisual production with an urban, modern or alternative air.
Guernica Vall d'Hebron
Just outside the Montbau subway station (line 3), you will find a wall full of reproductions of famous paintings such as El Bosco’s ‘Garden of Delights’ or Sorolla’s ‘Promenade on the Sea’. There is also a reproduction of the ‘Guernica’. You will have to take advantage of it, since it is the only place where you can carry out a shooting or audiovisual production with these artistic reproductions without being forbidden to take photos.
Phrases on recycled cans
If you have strolled through the streets of Barcelona it is impossible that you have not found some messages painted on recycled cans. Strolling along the Raval, Gracia or Barceloneta you will find cans with optimistic or romantic messages, or with phrases that make you think. Those in charge of these works are a couple who prefers to remain anonymous, and who work without signature or artistic name. If you are thinking of a location with messages for your next photographic shooting … do not hesitate to look for these cans!
Mural of the kiss
You have seen this mural in a multitude of photos on Instagram, and you know that it is in the city of Barcelona but not where … we will unveil it: on the square Isidre Nonell, between the streets of the Capellans and the del Sagristans.
It is called ‘The world is born in each kiss’ and is the photomosaic created by photographer Joan Fontcuberta on behalf of the Tricentennial. It is composed of 4,000 photographs given by citizens expressing moments of freedom.
Printed on ceramic and resistant to any weather condition it has become a kind of ‘photographic album of Barcelona’, an exceptional background to evoke the city in your most urban audiovisual productions.
A very real graffiti
This is one of the works of the artist Sam3, characterized by breaking the routine, altering the order and transforming the urban space. The artist’s work, committed to social reality, becomes a critical reflection on what happens in our environment. In this particular case, these are trees full of birds that may well be confused with reality … Look at the image a couple of times. Don’t they look like real trees in a different dimension than the wall itself?
Facade with charm in El Born
This facade is located in Barcelona’s Born district and is one of the most photographed ítems in Barcelona. The multitude of plants that cover it fascínate many citizens and tourists who walk ahead. Do not hesitate to immortalize the moment, as it changes color depending on the time of the year.
An oasis of peace and tranquility in the middle of the city for your more bucolic, cheerfull shootings and productions … choose the time of the year well according to what you want to reflect.
Art outside MACBA
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA) has a wall painted by the artist Keith Haring entitled “Together we can stop AIDS”.
On the Plaça dels Àngels de Barcelona we find also one of his well-known graffiti. The combination with the multitude of people practicing skate and all kinds of sports with wheels make this location an ideal place for your more sporty and risky shootings with a urban touch.
The Matches
The spectacular sculpture of ‘the Matches’ is the work of Claes Oldenburg, famous as a pioneer of Pop Art. His works exemplify large-scale reproductions of everyday objects that decorate public spaces around the world. The sculpture of the matches was commissioned by the city government and was inaugurated in 1992 on the occasion of the Olympic Games in Barcelona.
The sculpture of metal and cement has very striking colors and is spread over a large area, where large matches in different shapes are represented: some are fallen, folded, lit or consumed. Of disproportionate size, these “matches” appear disorderly from a box and reach 22 meters in height.
The Carbonera
It is the first building in the Eixample. On this block of flats in the district of Sant Antoni, included in the catalog of architectural heritage of the city, we see a huge graffiti that occupies its entire facade. A rebellious and creative air for your audiovisual productions or photographic shootings in the city of Barcelona.
Barcelona becomes series
It is fascinating to walk around in the district of Gracia and to meet there face to face Walter White (Breaking Bad), Daenerys Targaryen (Game of Thrones), Ragnar Lothbrok (Vikings) and a multitude of artists and athletes such as Michael Jordan, Amy Winehouse, Pepe Rubianes or Leo Messi.
The culprit of this is the artist Adrià Bosch, better known as AX Colors, the pseudonym he use in his signatures. Walls, blinds or murals full of color, ideal for your photos more colorful and full of life.
