The Sagrada Familia, one of the 12 treasures of Spain.

The Sagrada Familia is visited by millions of people every year.

Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926), is undoubtedly the most important architect who has devoted his entire career to the city of Barcelona. With more than thirty years destined to the project of the Sagrada familia, the Catalan architect is the most illustrious of the Condal City and this project is better known as all his other modernist works (Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, Casa Calvet or Casa Milà ). It represent the unique style of Gaudí and it is the focus of interest of the millions of tourists who visit Barcelona each year.

His most emblematic work is the Sagrada Familia. With nowadays 70% of the work completed, the main objective is to be able to finish the whole in the year 2026. During the past years the works of La sacristía de poniente, the upper portico of the facade of the Passion and the interior of the Basilica is completed. The objective of the year 2020 is to finish the facade of Glory, the Tower of the Virgen María (whose tip of the star will rise to 140 meters in height), the towers of the evangelists (four towers that reach 135 m of height in 2020) and the tower of Jesus Christ (the highest of all, 172.5 meters high). In the following video you will be able to verify how Sagrada Familia will be after the work finished in the year 2026.

Gaudí was inspired by the tradition of Gothic and Byzantine cathedrals to capture the architecture of the Sagrada Familia, giving great importance to light and color along with the geometric forms of its naturalistic synthetical structures, giving a very personal touch to his work.

Each of the 18 towers that are being built in the Sagrada Familia, have a religious meaning that makes the architecture of Gaudí totally expressive. The central tower is that of Jesus Christ, that of the apse crowned by a star, represents Mary, the four towers represent the gospels and the remaining the twelve apostles.

For Gaudí, the interior of the temple should resemble a forest, hence the shape of its columns in the form of trees, structurally perfect.

The facade of the Birth and the crypt of the temple were declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 2005 and the expiatory temple is declared as Cultural Property of National Interest and cataloged since 2007 as one of The 12 treasures of Spain and 7 wonders of Catalonia.

Last year, 4.5 million people visited the Holy Family. All the modernist architecture of the buildings of Gaudí and especially the Sagrada Familia are more than enough reasons to encourage you to come and produce in Barcelona. Being able to share your work with leisure time to enjoy these architectural wonders is a totally pleasant experience and it will take you a long time to forget.
